Privacy policy
Last updated: 20 October 2026
Cura Genomix (“we”, “us”) is based in Bhopal, India. This policy explains what information this website handles, why, and the rights you have under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
In short: the calculator sends nothing to us. The sample size assistant sends your topic to an AI model to read, keeps a record of each search without your text, and keeps your topic only if you allow it.
The sample size calculator
The calculator runs entirely in your web browser. The topic, values and references you type are not sent to us. They are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device, so your work is still there when you return. You can remove them at any time by clearing this website's data in your browser settings.
The sample size assistant
When you press “Find my sample size”, the text you typed or uploaded (your topic, aim and objectives) and the number of patients you entered, if any, are sent to our server. The server first removes email addresses, phone numbers and 12-digit ID numbers from the text. Then:
- The text is read by an AI model. It is sent to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI model, which returns the study design, search words and comments on your objectives. Anthropic processes it on our behalf under its commercial terms and does not use it to train its models. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
- Only search words go to the research databases. Words such as “anaemia” and “pregnancy”, not your text, are sent to Europe PMC (run by EMBL-EBI) and, if it is unavailable, to PubMed (run by the US National Library of Medicine).
- Daily limit. To share the free searches fairly, we count searches per visitor per day with a code made from your IP address and a secret that changes every day. The code cannot be turned back into your IP address and is deleted after 2 days.
- A record of each search, without your text. We keep the date, the study design, how many papers were found and used, which published study you chose, whether you downloaded the Word file, your feedback, and what the search cost us. We use these records to run and improve the assistant, for example to learn which studies students and their guides find useful.
- Your topic, only if you allow it. If you tick “Allow Cura Genomix to keep this topic”, we also keep the topic with the names of people, hospitals and cities removed, its key words and the assistant's review of the design. We check these cases ourselves, and correct ones are used as examples when another student enters a similar topic. This is optional: the assistant works the same without it.
- On your own device. Your last result, your draft text and your Word file settings are saved in your browser so they are still there when you return. Remove them with the “Remove it” button on the assistant page, or by clearing this website's data in your browser.
Feedback you type is stored with the search record. Please do not include names in it. Never type patient names or details that could identify a patient anywhere on this website.
You can withdraw your permission to keep your topic at any time: write to the grievance officer below with the date and topic of your search, and we will delete the stored topic. Withdrawing does not affect what was done before.
Information we receive in other ways
- When you email us: your email address and your message. We use them only to reply to you.
- When you visit the website: our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the pages and protect the website from attacks. The assistant's records are also stored with Cloudflare.
- Visit counts: if we turn on Cloudflare Web Analytics, we see totals such as the number of visits and the pages viewed, not information about you as an individual.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal data.
- We do not use advertising trackers.
- We do not need patient data.
How long we keep information
We keep emails for up to 12 months after our conversation ends. Daily-limit codes are deleted after 2 days. Search records are kept for up to 3 years. Topics kept with your permission are kept until you withdraw it, or until they are no longer useful for improving the assistant. We may keep information longer where the law requires it.
Your rights
You may ask us to tell you what personal data we hold about you, to correct or complete it, or to erase it. You may also nominate another person to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to do so. To make a request, write to our grievance officer. We will reply within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our reply, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
